Port Fairy is a small coastal town
in South Western Victoria. The town is just along Princess Highway and if you
are doing the Great Ocean Road Drive, this is pretty much a good town to go to
if you have time to explore. It is also home to the Australian Mutton Bird.
Tourists can have a look at the colony at Griffiths Island as soon as the
sunsets the birds come in all directions to go back to their nests. It would be
good to feature the whole town in this article but I am just going to tell the
experience that I had this year in the Port Fairy Festival.
People can just walk around the streets, stop and listen to these musicians all day. I asked a few people and even my uncle why they come to the festival and one of the main reasons that I hear is that they just want to hang around and listen to good music.
Aside from that, there are a lot
of kiosks around where you can buy things that you do not see everyday in town. It's more of like going to gypsy land or the store of Captain Jack in the Pirates of the Carribean. Take a look at these.
You can just imagine almost the whole part of the town is running with kiosks like that. Pretty cool huh, well there are a lot of other kiosks not only for gypsies he he he there is this one particular kiosk that caught my attention.
These were made from cans of beer and soda. How cool is that :) I didn't actually ask the price of these items but it just looks interesting that is why I took photos of these. So if you want to grab one. Wait for next year :)
Anyway, I am putting up all of my photos in my facebook page so you would be able to check out what the festival has to offer. Maybe, I could convince you to come with me again next year ;) FYI, we didn't really have time to explore the whole place because we were just there for 2 hours and my companions were a little bit tired already after all the walking and the heat of the sun (It is summer during March). Cheers guys, I hope I have given you a glimpse of what Port Fairy Festival has to offer. Here are the links to my other photos and the official link of the Port Fairy Festival. See you there next year.
